Independent GLP-1 journalism

On The Jab

About the paper

A GLP-1 publication with no one to please.

Founded in 2026 by Dr. Nick Robertson, MD. Written for the millions of Americans on these medications, and the many more deciding whether to start.

On The Jab began the way most things do — badly, in a hospital corridor. I had spent the afternoon with a patient who had come in convinced her gallbladder pain was “just the Ozempic,” because that is what a website with a very large audience and a very large affiliate deal had told her.

She was right, as it happened. But she had arrived at the right answer by luck, from a source that had every financial reason to keep her comfortable rather than informed. That struck me as a solvable problem.

What this is

A publication about GLP-1 receptor agonists — semaglutide, tirzepatide, and the generation of molecules arriving behind them — written for adults who want the reasoning rather than the conclusion. We publish news, long-form investigations, evergreen guides, and plain-English explainers of the underlying science.

It is written for a United States audience, because the questions that matter most here — coverage, list price, compounding, Medicare — are specific to this country's particular arrangement of medicine and money.

What this is not

It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for your own clinician, who knows your history and can examine you. It is not a telehealth company, a pharmacy, or a referral service. And it is not, in any sense, a place where a pharmaceutical manufacturer can buy a sentence.

Who I am

I am a physician. I spent a decade in internal medicine, most of it in metabolic and endocrine care, watching an entire field change underneath me in the space of about thirty months. I now write about it full-time.

I hold no equity in a pharmaceutical company, sit on no advisory board, and accept no speaking fees from industry. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed at the top of this page before it changes anywhere else.

How we work

  • 01

We read the trial, not the press release

Every claim about efficacy or risk traces back to a primary source we have actually opened. Where a number comes from a company slide deck rather than a peer-reviewed paper, we say so in the sentence.

  • 02

    We report uncertainty as uncertainty

Much of GLP-1 medicine is three years old. Where the honest answer is that nobody knows yet, that is the answer you will get here — not a confident guess dressed as guidance.

  • 03

We do not moralize about weight

Obesity is a chronic medical condition, not a character flaw, and these are medications, not shortcuts. That framing runs through everything we publish.

  • 04

    We correct in public

When we get something wrong, the correction goes at the top of the piece with the date, and stays there. We do not quietly edit.
